#66 Cal Ripken Jr.
Cal Ripken Jr.
SS/3B
1981-2001
19 Time All Star, 2 time MVP
Baseball Hall of Fame
This is where I lose the Orioles fans. Top 66 all time is pretty good but for O's fans this guy is #1. The best AL Shortstop for a good 12 years, Ripken was a 19 time All Star! Further he more or less saved baseball after the 94 strike by breaking Lou Gehrig's consecutive games streak, which was a magical moment my 12 year old self really enjoyed.
He was a 2 time MVP, when he retired he was the all time leader in home runs by a shortstop. He opened the door for big shortstops and he was known for changing his stance if something wasn't working.
He ended his career with 3,184 hits and 431 home runs. He is 16th on the all time doubles list with 603 and if you like modern stats his career WAR of 95.9 is 36th all time.
He is a lifetime .276 record and his consecutive games record will never ever fall.
In 2007 Cal Ripken entered the baseball Hall of Fame.
Anthony Leonelli is a 37 year old College Baseball Coach and amateur baseball arguer. If you wanna know how this list came together check here criteria. He thinks that George Brett winning batting titles in 3 decades is pretty awesome.
