#70 Billy Williams

Billy Williams
OF
1959-1976
6 Time All Star, Rookie of the Year
Baseball Hall of Fame

Sweet swinging Billy Williams had one of the prettiest left handed strokes the game ever saw. In 1961 when he made the show for good he won the Rookie of the Year, Rogers Hornsby who knows a few things about hitting saw him in spring training that year and predicted he'd win a batting title. Ol Rogers got that one right.

Williams played in 1,117 consecutive games from 1963 to 1970 which was the National League record into the 80s.

He was a 6 time All Star, finished top 5 in MVP voting twice and unfortunately due to playing in Chicago the bulk of his career, only got the playoffs in his final days with the Oakland A's.

A .290 lifetime hitter with 426 home runs. Billy Williams showed up every single day, and produced, and then produced some more.

He was elected to Cooperstown in 1987.

Anthony Leonelli is a 37 year old College Baseball Coach and amateur baseball arguer. If you wanna know how this list came together check here criteria. He thinks that George Brett winning batting titles in 3 decades is pretty awesome.
