The right handed counterpart to Sandy Koufax. Don Drysdale was a stud in his own right. This 9 time All Star and 3 time world champion was a fearsome hard throwing righty. He is the modern era National League leader in hit batsman. His career 2.95 ERA speaks to his dominance.
He lead the lead in strikeouts 3 times, although a chronic shoulder injury ended his career he pitched a TON in the early part of his career, 4 times leading the league in starts.
His post season ERA of 2.95 is identical to his regular season ERA. He was also a threat with the bat, hitting 29 home runs in his career.
He and Koufax were the first 2 pitchers to be paid over $100,000 a year, and they were worth every penny.
His consecutive scoreless innings streak of 58.2 scoreless innings stood for 20 years before falling to Orel Hershiser.
Drysdale was elected to the Hall of Fame in 1984.
Anthony Leonelli is a 37 year old College Baseball Coach and amateur baseball arguer. If you wanna know how this list came together check here criteria. He thinks that George Brett winning batting titles in 3 decades is pretty awesome.
