10 Time All Star, MVP, 9 Time Gold Glove
Baseball Hall of Fame
When I was a 15 year old starting second baseman for the Grafton Lake Sox, I was a bigger kid for a second baseman and considered Ryne Sandberg an excellent comp. The problem there is Ryne Sandberg is one of the best second baseman to ever walk the planet and I was...good enough to start for the Grafton Lake Sox.
At the time he retired he was the all time home run leader for second baseman (since passed) and he once played 121 straight games without an error. In 1990 he lead the league in home runs an extreme rarity for a second baseman. He also lead the league in runs scored 3 times and total bases once.
He helped the Cubs to divisional titles in 1984 and 1988 and played in ten straight all star games. He retired for a year and a half or so in 1994-1995 and came back to hit 25 home runs in 1996.
By far the best second baseman in baseball in the 1980s and into the early 90s. It was no surprise when Cooperstown inducted him in 2005.
Anthony Leonelli is a 37 year old College Baseball Coach and amateur baseball arguer. If you wanna know how this list came together check here criteria. He thinks that George Brett winning batting titles in 3 decades is pretty awesome.
