1975-1998
6 Time All Star, Cy Young, MVP
Baseball Hall of Fame

It's always 1978 if you're the Eck. At least that's what the haircuit and mustache say, and it's easy to make jokes about the look, or the nonsense he spurts out on Red Sox broadcasts, but this guy is an all timer.

He was a very good starter the first half of his career, a fireballer for the Indians and Red Sox he won 20, had sub 3.00 ERAs twice, made an All Star team, finished top 5 for a Cy Young as a starter.

Then at age 33 when the road seemed to be ending he became the best closer in baseball and a lights out backend of the bullpen guy for the A's. He posted a sub 1.00 ERA in 1990, and won the MVP and Cy Young in 1992. He saved 390 games despite not being converted to the pen until he was 33.

With his flowing mane and fist pumping antics he wasn't always popular in opposing dugouts, but it's hard to argue his greatness. His run from 1988 to 1992 might be the best for any reliever ever.

He's 7th on the all time saves list and 5th in appearances all time. Coopertown called in 2004 and Eck probably hopped in a Trans-Am and headed up there.

Anthony Leonelli is a 37 year old College Baseball Coach and amateur baseball arguer. If you wanna know how this list came together check here criteria. He thinks that George Brett winning batting titles in 3 decades is pretty awesome.
