#82 Carlton Fisk
Carlton Fisk

1969-1993
11 Time All Star, Rookie of the Year
Baseball Hall of Fame
Carlton Fisk made his first all star team at age 24 and his last at age 43. He was the best catcher in the American League for the bulk of his career. At the time of his retirement he held the records of most games caught (since passed by Ivan Rodriguez), and most home runs by a catcher (since passed by Mike Piazza). He also held the record for most home runs after age 40 (since passed by Barry Bonds).
Early in his career in Boston he established himself as perennial all star and a power threat and lead the Red Sox to the 1975 World Series where he hit the iconic walk off home run to end game 6.
His free agency exit to Chicago broke hearts in New England and was one of the early high profile player moves via free agency. He became a mainstay behind the plate in Chicago for over a decade and his durability and consistency through the 80s and early 90s was remarkable.
There are only 19 catchers in Cooperstown and none has more hits than Carlton Fisk. Also to a generation of young impressionable boys the line "I'll Cahlton Fisk ya head with a Louisville f--kin sluggah" will always hold a special place in their subconscious.
Fisk got his call to the Hall in 2000. His #27 is retired in Boston and his #72 is retired in Chicago.
Anthony Leonelli is a 37 year old College Baseball Coach and amateur baseball arguer. If you wanna know how this list came together check here criteria. He thinks that George Brett winning batting titles in 3 decades is pretty awesome.
